Associate of Science in Teaching
Additional Degree Requirements:
- Students earning an A.S.T. degree must meet the following requirements:
- Attainment of 2.75 cumulative grade point average
- Successful completion of approved standardized examination for admission to university Colleges of Education
- Satisfactory ratings on an index of suitability for the teaching profession
- Students transferring to a UT or TBR university may need to meet additional requirements to gain admittance to the university’s early childhood program. Transferring students should check with the university for specific program requirements.

Area of Emphasis Notes for Transferring Students
- Neither UM or UTK includes ECED 2360 in its PreK–3 curriculum; students intending to transfer to UM or UTK will have to take one other course after transfer.
- Students who plan to transfer to UTK should take an intermediate foreign language instead of MATH 1410 .
- UM does not require completion of MATH 1410 .
- Students who plan to transfer to ETSU should take EDUC 2210 - Educational Psychology instead of MATH 1420 .

*All early childhood education (Pre K-3) majors who are required to take Learning Support must also complete MSCC 1300 - First-Year Experience .
