Associate of Science in Teaching
Students should check with the university to which they intend to transfer in case there are additional requirements needed for admittance to the Teacher Education Program.
Additional A.S.T. degree requirements:
- Attainment of a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
- ACT score of 21 or successful completion of the PRAXIS CORE exam (MTSU and UTC require a 22 ACT score.)
- Satisfactory ratings on an index of suitability for the teaching profession.

Social/Behavioral Sciences (6 credit hours)
(If transfering to UM, they require two of the following three courses to satisfy the social/behavioral sciences requirement: GEOG 1012 GEOG 2010 )
History (6 credit hours)
Students should check with their advisor or a representative of the university to which they intend to transfer to determine the recommended history courses. Students who intend to transfer to UTK should take six credit hours of a non U.S. history sequence to fulfill the history requirements. UTC requires that one of the history courses be a non-western culture class.
Mathematics (4 credit hours)
Natural Science (8 credit hours)
UM requires BIOL 1010 in place of PHYS 1040.
PHYS and CHEM are recommended. Students who intend to transfer to UTC should take either calculus based or non-calculus based Physics sequence. UTM requires an additional chemistry sequence 1010 and 1020 and PHYS.
AREA OF EMPHASIS REQUIREMENTS (18 credit hours)
Students who plan to transfer to MTSU, ETSU, UTK in secondary education mathematics should follow the mathematics A.A./A.S. TTP and not the AST TTP. ETSU and UTK recommend and MTSU requires that students take education courses after transfer. Students who plan to transfer to TTU or UTM should take EDUC 1010 .

All secondary education mathematic majors who are required to take Learning Support must also complete MSCC 1300 First-Year Experience , and the degree program will require 63 credit hours.
