The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in General Technology prepares students for unique positions in the workplace for which specified degree programs do not currently exist. If you are interested in this program, please contact the office of the Dean of Career and Technical Programs at 931-668-7010 ext. 2109, or by email frascoe@mscc.edu. This program can only be taken by students working directly with an advisor in the selection of courses to satisfy the degree requirements.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES:

Students will be able to:

Utilize diverse disciplines to enhance communication, research, business or technology skills in the workplace
Connect relevant experience and academic knowledge
Integrate knowledge and modes of thinking drawn from two or more disciplines
Adapt and apply skills, abilities, theories, or methodologies gained in one situation to new situations

Write and speak clearly (legibly) and persuasively with individuals and groups

Asking and answering the right questions (apply knowledge, evaluate actions and policies, paying attention to details)
Solving problems (identify problems, develop solutions, and implement solutions)

GENERAL EDUCATION (15-16 credit hours)

ENGL 1010 - English Composition I 3 sem hrs cr
COMM 2025 - Fundamentals of Communication 3 sem hrs cr
Appropriate MATH course from either of the two chosen programs
Social Sciences general education course (selected in consultation with an advisor)

ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

ART 1035 - Introduction to Art 3 sem hrs cr
MUS 1030 - Introduction to Music 3 sem hrs cr
THEA 1030 - Introduction to Theatre 3 sem hrs cr

MAJOR FIELD CORE (selected in consultation with an advisor)

18 hours minimum

COMPLETION PATHWAY COURSES (selected in consultation with an advisor)

26-27 hours

All general technology majors who are required to take Learning Support must also complete MSCC 1300 First Year Experience , and the degree program will require 63 credit hours.

GPS (Graduation Planning System), along with the correct catalog, should be utilized by students for all of their educational planning. Students can monitor their progress toward a degree or certificate and view missing requirements with the GPS audit, which is accessible through MyMotlow.
