Associate of Applied Science
Motlow State Community College, as part of the Tennessee Board of Regents’ early childhood initiative, offers courses leading to the Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education. The purpose of this major is to create a statewide early childhood academic degree and professional/career-development model that prepares students for a career in childcare and early education. The program includes both educational theory and the practical application of learning in alignment with National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards. Graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills to deliver appropriate programming for young children (birth through age 8) and their families. The academic coursework and clinical practicums prepare students for CDA (Child Development Associate) assessment and credentialing.
