PARA 2600 - Paramedic Clinicals II5 sem hrs cr
This course is a field internship meant to allow the student to perform skills and practice emergency medicine theories learned while in the classroom, laboratory, and other clinical settings. This experience must be conducted under the direction of a licensed EMT-Paramedic preceptor or a course instructor. Under supervision, the student will be exposed to injuries and illnesses and will participate in the diagnosis and treatment of these patients while working in an environment approximating that found upon graduation. The intern will at this point have progressed from observer to team member as well have leadership role opportunities as a pre-hospital provider. This course requires a total of 240 clinical hours. An (8hr) clinical with the program medical director will be included in this time as well. Participants must have a “C” or better to progress in each Paramedic course and to successfully complete the program of study. 16 clinical hours per week
Pre-requisites: Acceptance into the paramedic program, PARA 1100, PARA 1200, PARA 2100, PARA 2200, PARA 2300, and maintenance of EMT licensure.
Co-requisite: PARA 2400, PARA 2500
