ART 2510 - Sculpture I3 sem hrs cr
This course provides the student with an introduction to the processes and techniques used in sculpture, including modeling, mold making, and plaster-and-wood construction. Six-hour studio course.

Master Course Syllabus General Objectives
- Recognize the technical aspects of both additive and subtractive sculptural processes focusing on clay, plaster, and wood construction
- Develop an art vocabulary specific to sculpture/3-D and implement through critiques, written work, and class discussions
- Participate in studio experience and critique, examining the historical and contemporary significance of a variety of sculpture media
- Constructively criticize own work as well as others’ through oral, written, and formal presentations
Specific Objectives
- Understand multiple sculpture processes as a creative medium
- Communicate effectively about the art sculpture through the description, analysis, interpretation, and judgement of art works
- Apply critical thinking to three-dimensional visual problem solving
- Identify the Formal Elements and Principles of Design when comparing works of art
- Revise and edit projects at various stages in response to critical analysis
- Prepare and create sculptural projects with an emphasis on process
