This course examines the expanding field of Sourcing & Procurement, its tie to Supply Chain Management and bottom line impact to the business. Topics include purchasing operations, process and procedures, supplier evaluation, supplier quality, global sourcing, e-commerce, contracts and their legal implications, negotiation, and ethics.

- Describe the demands placed on purchasing and supply chain managers by business stakeholders, both internally and externally to the entity
- Recognize the impact of purchasing and supply chain management on the competitive success and profitability of modern organizations
- Identify the ethical, contractual, risk-management, sustainability, and legal issues faced by purchasing and supply chain professionals and be able to recognize each in performance of the function
- Define the increasingly strategic nature of purchasing, especially the fact that it involves more than just buying goods and services
- Understand the influence of purchasing on other major functional activities, including product design, information system design, e-commerce, manufacturing planning and control, inventory management, human resource development, financial planning, forecasting, sales, quality management, and many other areas
