ECED 2340 - Family Dynamics and Community Involvement3 sem hrs cr
Family Dynamics & Community Involvement is a study of the role of the family and community in the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth of the child ages birth through eight. Topics include the benefits of, and strategies for, developing positive reciprocal relationships with families in an early childhood setting. Field experience is required. (Formerly ECED 2040)

The learner will…
- demonstrate knowledge of and value for the diversity of individual children, families, and communities.
- discuss the benefits of forming strong reciprocal relationships with children and families, engaging with them as partners to support learning.
- use a broad repertoire of responsive strategies to build partnerships with families, community partners and colleagues to support each child’s development and learning including professional communication skills, technology, and community resources.
- identify and reflect on the role of childhood educators as informed advocates for young children, families, and the profession.
- interpret ethical and other early childhood professional guidelines.
