ECED 2320 - Infant, Toddler, Child Development

Infant, Toddler, Child Development is a study of the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional aspects of young children and their application to the care, guidance, and development of children ages birth through eight. Field experience is required.

This course may include proctored exams which must be completed on campus or at an instructor-approved proctoring center which may require additional costs to the student. Please consult your instructor for additional details.

The learner will…

  • know and understand young children’s characteristics and needs during the prenatal stage and first eight years of life including current trends in brain research and implications for child development. 
  • explain the influence of multiple contexts and individual differences on child development and learning. 
  • compare the major theories of human development and learning to explain aspects of early childhood development. 
  • recognize that authentic and appropriate assessment is necessary to evaluate and support young children’s development and learning.
