CHEM 1020 - Introduction to Chemistry II & Lab4 sem hrs cr
CHEM 1020 is intended to satisfy the chemistry requirement for several career programs and satisfy part of the general education science requirement. The course will develop a variety of chemistry topics including nuclear chemistry; redox reactions and electrochemistry; the structure and nomenclature for organic compounds; the nature and properties of plastics and polymers; the nature and properties of drugs; the nature and properties of biochemical molecules, especially fats and oils, carbohydrates, and proteins and their relationship to nutrition; and the nature and properties of DNA and RNA and their relationship to heredity. These topics are developed on an as-needed basis in order to deal with a variety of societal issues. Prerequisite: CHEM 1010
In rare and unusual circumstances, a course prerequisite can be overridden with the permission of the Curriculum lead for the discipline.
