HIST 2060 - African American History3 sem hrs cr
This course examines the history of Africans and their descendants in the United States from the end of the Civil War to the present. The course investigates topics from emancipation to the ongoing struggle for Civil Rights. Connections between this history and the issues and concerns facing all Americans presently will be explored. Students will be asked to acquire factual information, but the mere memorization of facts is less important than the analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of those historical facts. Prerequisite: Completion of all Learning Support competencies or acceptable placement scores are required. HIST 2020 and English Composition are encouraged.
In rare and unusual circumstances, a course prerequisite can be overridden with the permission of the Curriculum lead for the discipline.
