Independent Study 2990 - Independent Study

1-5 sem hrs cr

All disciplines offer an Independent Study course, so indicated by the normal course designation followed by the section number 99 (for example. ENGL 1010 99).  A designation of 2990 is reserved for specially designed Independent Study course, driven by need, designed by the course instructor, and approved by the appropriate curriculum chair. An Independent Study course permits the development of a specific study project under the supervision of a discipline instructor.  An Independent Study course must be developed by the instructor who will supervise the activity and must be approved by the student’s advisor and the curriculum chair to which the discipline is assigned.  The credit for an Independent Study course may vary from one to five hours. 

No more than six semester credit hours earned in Independent Study courses may be used in meeting minimum degree requirements.
